The Human Right Ad Hoc Court on East Timor

The Human Right Ad Hoc Court on East Timor is processing three cases out of the twelve it is assigned to, namely the case of Abilio Soares (former Governor of East Timor), one case involving five defendants namely Herman Soediono (former Regent of KDH Tk II Covalima East Timor), Liliek Koeshadianto (former Commander of Military District/DANDIM 1635 Suai), Gatot Subiyaktoro (former Head of Police Force in Suai), Achmad Syamsudin (Former Kasdim 1635 Suai) dan Sugito (Former Danramil Suai), and the case of Timbul Silaen (former Head of Regional Police Force of East Timor). The Ad Hoc Human Right Court is the first ever in the history of Indonesia that puts past extra ordinary crimes on trial and its process and result would be a precedent for the future solvency of various Human Right violations that have occurred in Indonesia.

Since the initial steps of the trial the Institution for Study and Advocacy (ELSAM) has formed a monitoring team to observe the process of the trials. These pages contain press releases and progress reports about this Human Rights Ad Hoc Court on East Timor:
